Any one who regularly reads Europe in a Day knows that as well as travelling, I’m a huge fan of the Eurovision Song Contest – so to celebrate 5 years of Europe in a Day, I’ve decided to combine the two with a Birthday Eurovision!
For the first time ever, I’ve chosen some of my all time favourite contest entries from the countries of Europe in a Day. Out of the 38 countries that make up the Europe in a Day family, 29 have entered Eurovision at least once since the contest first started in 1956 – which means we sadly won’t be hearing songs from the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Scotland, Transnistria, Wales or Vatican City – but they will have a part to play!
The 29 eligible songs were put into a randomiser to determine a running order and listed below. National juries from each of the 29 singing countries and the 9 non-competing nations will have their say, while your votes cast below will form the results of the televote.
You have until AUGUST 30TH to take a look and pick your Top 10 favourites. Then, on August 31st (Europe in a Day’s 5th birthday!) we’ll find out who is the first-ever winner of Europe in a Day’s Birthday Eurovision!
All that’s left to say is: Good Evening Europe, this is London calling!
